Jasper describes a diverse aggregate of opaque chalcedony and/or microgranular quartz, and therefore presents in a wide variety of colors and unique patternings. Net jasper is the variety known for its fine strings of black patterning, resembling a net or spiderweb, formed when microscopic particles of iron, manganese, or other minerals are trapped within the microcrystalline quartz matrix during the stone’s formation. These tiny inclusions are responsible for the unique patterns seen on the surface of the stone. Net Jasper is believed to encourage strength of will and self-understanding - a nuturing stone that is known to help keep you connected with the natural forces of Earth.
